Metal Gutter Repair Bracket

Stainless Steel Metal Gutter Repair Bracket For Half Round Cast Iron Gutter (4.5"/115mm)

£12.25

Gutter Repair Brackets For 4.5" (115mm) Half Round Cast Iron Guttering.

No need to take your guttering down - Support your cast iron gutters with a 316L stainless steel gutter repair bracket.

These gutter repair brackets are manufactured from marine grade 316L Stainless Steel (Designed, Manufactured & Dispatched In The UK).

This gutter repair bracket is part of our range of metal gutter brackets and this particular type is designed to help repair sagging or damaged lengths of gutter.

Manufactured in the UK these metal gutter repair brackets are produced from 316L stainless steel so they won't rust like mild steel alternatives.  This gutter repair bracket is produced and sized for cast iron guttering and offers unrivaled strength and durability.

The cup and fixing arm are joined using a strong stainless weld rather than simply being folded like cheaper alternatives. The welding process provides significantly more strength and resistance against bending because brackets which are simply folded are at greater risk of failing in harsh weather conditions and the increased weight of snow.

If you are wanting to use these for plastic, zinc, aluminium or cast iron effect gutters, please contact me for confirmation of sizes and speak to your guttering supplier concerning any potential reaction between the materials.

This size of the metal gutter repair bracket is to fit the 4.5" (115mm) common half round cast iron gutter profile (See attached guide image relating to gutter sizing). It is important to note that cast iron guttering is measured across the inside of the profile. You need to factor in the thickness of the cast iron and also note that the bracket has to fit on the outside of this. What this means is that the bracket will be larger than the internal guttering size by as much as 10-15mm.

If you are looking to support your guttering without having to take it all down then this gutter repair bracket is the one for you. It is designed to fix to the fascia and support your existing rainwater goods from below. For cast iron guttering, it would be good practice to have a bracket every 900mm (3') or wherever the guttering is sagging.

We do get asked about using these brackets on plastic and I have shown a couple of images showing the 4" (100mm) bracket on a 112.5mm plastic gutter. This offers a better fit than the 4.5" (115mm) version which is oversized to take a cast iron gutter.

The arm length is approximately 120mm and has two fixing points located below the cup.  This is a high quality UK manufactured gutter repair bracket which is produced from a 5mm x 20mm, 316L stainless steel material providing unrivaled longevity and excellent strength in all weather.

Why would anyone want to spend so more on a stainless steel bracket?  Don’t mild steel brackets perform just as well?

Cast iron guttering is a common feature of many older properties and was used because of its durability and traditional aesthetic.  However, whilst well-maintained cast iron guttering can be expected to last over a century, often the brackets used to support it will need to be replaced.  One effective solution for repairing cast iron guttering is to use a repair bracket as it provides support without the need to remove the gutter from the building.

One of the main benefits of using a stainless steel repair bracket is its strength.  Stainless steel is a strong and durable material that can withstand the weight of cast iron guttering and support it even in extreme weather conditions.  This means that once a repair bracket is installed, it will effectively hold up the guttering and prevent it from leaking or collapsing.

Another benefit of using a stainless steel repair bracket is its corrosion resistance.  Mild steel or cast iron brackets can rust over time, especially if it is exposed to harsh weather conditions or coastal environments.  Stainless steel, on the other hand, is highly resistant to corrosion, meaning that it will not rust or deteriorate as quickly as other materials.  This makes it an ideal choice for a repair bracket, as it will last for many years and help to extend the life of your guttering.

In addition to its strength and corrosion resistance, stainless steel is also a very low maintenance material.  Unlike mild steel or cast iron, which needs to be painted or coated regularly to prevent rust, stainless steel repair brackets do not require any special maintenance.  This can save homeowners both time and money in the long run.

Finally, using a stainless steel repair bracket can also improve the overall appearance of the guttering.  Stainless steel repair brackets have a sleek yet sturdy appearance that can complement the traditional aesthetic of cast iron guttering, making it an attractive choice for homeowners who want to maintain the historical appearance of their home while also making repairs.

Whilst undoubtedly more a more expensive option, using a stainless steel repair bracket is an effective and long-lasting solution for holding up cast iron guttering.  Its strength, corrosion resistance, low maintenance requirements, and attractive appearance make it an excellent choice for homeowners looking to repair their guttering.

You should use stainless steel fixings with these brackets. Stainless steel is used because of the corrosion resistance in a wide variety of service environments, usually without additional coatings. In certain circumstances, however, stainless steel components may require a coated (paint) finish so if you are intending to paint these, please ensure that you use the correct primer or your paint will not stick. There are a number of metal paint products available including Hammerite 'Special Metals Primer' which will promote adhesion to stainless steel.

Please note that if you are purchasing for use with other types of guttering such as plastic or aluminium,  the design does not have a return on the cup and would normally rely on the weight of the cast iron to keep the guttering in the cup. The external dimensions of cast iron guttering would usually be slightly wider than plastic or aluminium so if you are going to use these brackets for materials other than cast iron, you may need to secure your guttering to the bracket.

One of the most common problems with failed gutters is poor alignment or sagging and this in turn can cause water to run down the side of a building causing damp and in time structural damage. Therefore, it is very important to make sure the brackets holding up the gutters are symmetrical, sufficiently strong and are the right profile for the guttering. There are many off-the-shelf brackets that are manufactured in Eastern Europe and even as far as China but they tend to be less robust and have smaller dimensions than brackets made in Britain.

These particular gutter repair brackets are manufactured from a 316L stainless steel to provide superb weather resistance and an increased lifespan. Whilst they are likely to be more expensive, they offer a whole life cost which is significantly lower than lesser performing imported products.
